While looking for more avenues for knowledge sharing and information dissemination, we realised that sending text messages on mobile phones can be very cost-effective and beneficial, since almost everyone in the country has a mobile phone today. Thus, in April 2009 we started our SMS channel EyewayNews through the free SMS alert service of Google.
On 31 March 2010, we had 1110 subscribers. And on 21 June 2011, we touched the 2000 mark.
